Needed a replacement for ownCloud that has been in use since 2013 due to not supporting newer PHP versions, this became NextCloud.

ownCloud was only used as an alternative to Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive to have some files sync over multiple devices and photos taken on a mobile phone were uploaded so there is no need for much storage on the phone itself. It also had plugins to make it do more but never used them.

Due to in current time and location there is a lot of discussion to get away from ‘big tech’, or maybe more ‘American’ companies NextCloud came up more than once. So, lets give it a go and see if it can be a for me ‘free’ alternative to either of the above.
